If you know someone with cancer, please share this blog with them.
This is the sequel to a blog I wrote in 2020. I’ve got a lot more information now.
In 2014, while experiencing the worst pain that a man can feel, Bladder Spasms, I was introduced to CBG. I didn’t know it was CBG that stopped my spasms at that time, but I was certainly grateful that something had stopped them. The drugs I’d been given by my doctor only dulled the symptoms at best. The spasms did not completely stop until I sucked down a lozenge that supposedly had CBD in it. Turned out that there was enough CBG in that lozenge to stop the spasms cold and they did not return.
Some months later, my wife became catastrophically ill, and my search began for medicine that could potentially help her.
In my quest to find something that helps my wife, I’ve grown both cannabis and hemp. By the way, I find more seeds with verified test results in hemp than in cannabis, by a wide margin. So I’m trusting hemp plants more and more for CBD. But so far, the greatest hemp I’ve grown is the White CBG, where they isolated the cannabinoid and that’s all you get. No CBD, no THC, just 15-22% pure CBG. It was the least discussed cannabinoid for a long time, even though CBG-A is the source for all the cannabinoids and THC. It seemed logical to me that the pure CBG remaining after decarboxylation, was incredibly powerful. In any case, it seemed to hold a lot of potential.
I started looking for more ways to get CBG into our dispensary. I researched which strains have the highest amount of pure CBG, and there was a clear winner in cannabis. That was Magic Jordan, and I tried, in vain, for several years, to locate seeds from that cultivar. I could not find any. However, I learned that Magic Jordan was half the lineage for another strain, Night Nurse, which I grew last year. The problem with CBG in cannabis plants is that there simply isn’t enough left over in that plant to build a CBG segment in my dispensary.
In hemp laboratories, they have taken the time to learn how to isolate the CBG cannabinoid. In 2017, Oregon CBD was the first to come out with an all CBG plant. Others make The White CBG now and honestly, if you are looking for a true medical plant to grow, I would grow this cultivar.
The White CBG. I believe I wrote in 2020 that in my opinion, CBG might be the secret sauce.
So we’ve been growing the White CBG and we’ve been taking it. There seems to be a wide variety of benefits, but the one I’ve noticed the most is how it affects my brain. It’s akin to wiping a window clean.
Recently, someone in our part of the world contacted me about a sick friend. We’ll call him Mr. T. He’s a 40ish man with stage four colon cancer. Recently diagnosed, going through chemo. I was asked if I could help.
I started digging online about colon cancer and if CBG could possibly help. I found the most amazing document:
Cannabigerol (CBG): A Comprehensive Review of Its Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential
If you know someone with cancer, please read and share this document; especially section six: Treatment of Cancer.
If you read the entire document, you will come to understand the potential applications for CBG. But specifically for cancer, the document is very clear that the greatest potential would be a combination of CBG with CBD. Preliminary findings show that taking these two together can aid with the veracity of the chemotherapy. It’s critical to remember that these are potential findings, not absolute medical facts. But this is the most encouraging document I’ve read on this subject to date. The variety of applications for CBG cannot be denied.
There are no side effects for taking the two together. The combination will help control the symptoms associated with chemo, so that the medicine has the greatest chance at being effective. There is also evidence that the CBG might, at the very least, slow down growth of the tumor(s).
I got Karen to work on a tincture that combines the two. We’ve got both CBD and CBG here, and we’re happy to give our medicine to Mr. T.
So right now, Mr. T is going through chemo. He just had his third dose, but the first dose while taking the CBG/CBD tincture. He said it was the easiest chemo he’s had so far.
When he got home, he had more tincture and a variety of flowers to crush and vape. Every one of these flowers was selected for him, based on what he’s going through. So they are all high in limonene, to ward off the nausea. One of the plants, the ACDC I grew last year that wasn’t an ACDC, has just under 1% limonene, and it puts the kibosh on nausea immediately. There’s also high amounts of limonene in the purple hindu kush we give him for sleep.
So, this is all good, right?
Except, I don’t have an endless supply of CBG. I only have what I grew for my family. Mr. T is welcome to every bit of that, but I was suddenly faced with the question of what to do once our supply is gone. He is going to need more and so are we.
This is a complicated question. I don’t know what products are safe and effective over the counter for CBG. We can’t screw around with products that we are not certain of. This person has serious, life threatening cancer. All the plants we grow are tested, so we know what we’re giving him.
To me, the best solution is to grow more. But this year’s grow for me doesn’t include CBG. Our grow was already in motion when I found out about Mr. T. I am planning on growing it again next year and probably every subsequent year after reading the attached paper. But nothing for this year, and Mr. T is going to use up what we’ve got.
I contacted Oregon CBD, where I purchased my White CBG seeds, where the White CBG was invented in 2017. Lo and behold, Oregon CBD is now making a CBG auto flower, with test results ranging from 8% to 15% CBG per plant. That’s not as potent as a full White CBG seed, where I’ve gotten 22%.
But strength is not an issue when dealing with FECO, because it’s concentrated. No matter the strength of the plant, it becomes much stronger in the FECO. So a bunch of 8-15% plants would serve perfectly for the tincture.
These seeds will take 11-12 weeks to be fully mature. They had a 35% discount. We got 50 seeds for $99. As far as I’m concerned, this is a bargain. More than likely, we’ll be doing this again, whenever needed.
In the meantime, Mr T. contacted a friend of his who is also a grower and this person has volunteered to grow a bunch immediately.
This means that in three months, sometime in mid-September, before the mold season, there will be new CBG plants to process into FECO. We should have enough of our own stash to cover him until then.
This might also allow Mr. T the opportunity to grow some of his own medicine, something that I think he finds very appealing. It’s a different way of taking ownership over a malady and healing.
We have no idea what impact this is going to have on the cancer we’re attempting to treat. We are not doctors. We are home growers.
But folks, we’re not fools. If something can help, people need to know. If you read that document, you will have a greater understanding of the potential of CBG.
Honestly, everyone should be growing this and having a stash in their home dispensary. We know this: If anyone in my family gets cancer, we’re going to have medicine for them on day one. Making a tincture of CBG and CBD is something that we can do, in our own home. You can, too.
Please share this blog with someone who is sick. I have no idea if this will help or inspire anyone, but at the very least, it is my fervent desire that this information brings hope. Because hope is what we’re currently feeling about a situation that at first glance seemed hopeless.
Whether you grow cannabis or hemp, this plant is a miracle, and one of the greatest medicines on earth is hope. CBG is full of hope.
